Springing into new trends!

April 24th, 2015 | Category: Bridal Market, Fashion | Comments (0)

New York in the Spring is always beautiful! It’s a magical time of year when, after a harsh winter, the entire city is abloom with flowers of delicate pink and white blossoms everywhere.

This Spring’s New York Bridal Market was the same. The looks were delicate with feminine details that resulted in the most romantic designs. Lace will never be out of style, and this market we saw some of the most incredible laces! Laser cut lace added a modern twist to traditional silhouettes, while classics such as Chantilly and Alencon were updated with the faintest hint of color or iridescence.
Many designers were showing a heavier embroidered lace that continues to appeal to a Bohemian style bride, as well as to the bride who is having an outdoor or farm wedding.

Watch a video of one of our favorite gowns -> IMG_3563

One common theme with all the designers we spoke with is that they are each doing “sexy” in their own unique ways. From subtle to extreme, we saw it all! This is a direct influence from the newly successful Israeli designers, who have made sexy the new rage in bridal.

Necklines are deeper, backs are lower, and many designers featured gowns with sheer cut outs on the side.

Our favorite way to incorporate this trend into our repertoire is by choosing classic silhouettes that have beautiful sheer illusion necklines and backs that are either embellished with delicate, subtle beading, or lace appliqués.

This Wtoo gown stole our hearts!

Another trend that we love is the romantic addition of sleeves! From sheer illusion, gently falling caps, and lovely lace three quarter, the look is femininity at its finest!

In keeping with Spring, we did see some luscious hints of color.
Every designer showed soft, flowing gowns in the faintest hues of caramel, honey, rose gold, champagne, blush and fawn. Mostly used under the sheerest tulle, the colors added richness and dimension to each design.

Soon The Little White Dress will also be abloom with some amazing new dresses for our future brides. We can hardly wait to see the response to our newest collection of beautiful gowns that will be perfectly priced for every bride!

New York Bridal Market Spring 2013

October 29th, 2013 | Category: Uncategorized | Comments (0)

The ladies at The Little White Dress recently returned from the Spring, 2014 International Bridal Market in New York.  This is by far one of the most fun aspects of our job!  Not only do we get to spend days in the Big Apple, we also get to see the newest trends in bridal from our awesome designers Watters & Watters, Wtoo, Justin Alexander, Sincerity Bridal, and the Sweetheart Collection!

This market proved to be the best yet! We were happy to see that the Cinderella ball gown has returned in fairy tale proportions.  These beautiful gowns were shown in every fabric and lace imaginable.

We are also very excited about a new line for The Little White Dress from our friends at Watters called D.I.D.  This line is focused on destination dresses that cater to nontraditional brides who are looking for a Bohemian chic look.  These dresses are absolutely perfect for our market and they are also perfectly priced!

Wtoo featured gowns that got their design influences from the romantic region of Tuscany, Italy.  The faintest shades of cafe, caramel, and mocha gave the softest hint of color to traditional lace gowns.  Who wouldn’t want to say, “I do” in one of these romantic creations?

The trend that charmed us the most was the diverse infusion of the color pink!  Many designers featured opulent creations in tones of this sensual shade.  We realize that not every girl wants to be a “blushing bride”, however anyone who chooses to walk down the aisle in this flirtatious color will truly be pretty in pink!

We cant wait for our new arrivals!  Follow us on Facebook (Little White Dress) and on Instagram (thelittlewhitedress) so you can watch as new dresses arrive!!

Head Over HEELS!

June 11th, 2013 | Category: Uncategorized | Comments (0)

Every bride’s wish is to be fabulous from veil to toe on her big day!  After saying yes to the perfect dress it is then time to decide on a great pair of shoes to complete the wedding day look. The ladies of The Little White Dress are seeing more and more brides steer away from the traditional ivory or diamond white wedding shoe and instead opt for a brighter color palette on their feet. Even alternatives such as silver and gold are being tossed aside for the bride who desires a deep purple or royal blue pop of color underneath the skirt of her gown!

When shopping for the perfect colorful wedding shoe there are always a few things to keep in mind. Think about the colors of the wedding and consider incorporating one of those options in the color of the shoe. Many brides choose their wedding shoe to match the color of their bridesmaid dresses. This allows the bride to tie in the bridesmaid dresses to her wedding gown in a subtle, but fun way. Another color brides play off of is their floral bouquets.

Whether they are matching a chosen color of the flowers or picking the shade of their maid’s attire, the color contrasts provide perfect pictures and always display the bride’s colorful personality. Don’t be afraid to step outside the box and rock a bit of color that isn’t already included in the wedding. As long as it complements the entire look of the big day any color will do.  A top choice among brides these days is the color blue in their shoe pick, all in the name of the traditional “something BLUE”!

When searching for the perfect color blue, consider a pale blue or a royal blue, both are elegant colors which are understated enough to go with any dress.

Now with all this pretty talk we must not forget about the functional factor! The shoe a bride wears on her wedding day is one of the most important accessories of all. No matter what the hue of the shoe, when choosing shoes it is helpful to consider what heel height and materiel is most comfortable. Being on your feet the entire day and hopefully dancing the night away, calls for a comfy but stylish style. A brides wedding shoe should be a structural wonder, providing support and allowing her to gracefully walk down the aisle to say “I do”. Synthetic fabrics give less flexibility, sticking with natural fibers such as leathers and silks allow for more movement and bend.   Adding a shoe insert will also give the bride extra cushion and relief. We always advise our brides to wear their wedding shoe weeks before the wedding to break them in. Don’t risk taking them outside, they may get damage or stained.  Vacuum, clean the house, or walk up and down the stairs; whatever a bride must do to make those shoes as comfortable as they can be for the big day!

Stop by The Little White Dress and our bridal consultants would love to help you find the perfect pair of shoes for your special day. We will ensure that you go down the aisle in comfort and style, and look flawless from head to toe!

Fall Market 2013: Going Gatsby…

May 8th, 2013 | Category: Uncategorized | Comments (0)

The ladies of The Little White Dress have just returned from New York City where we attended the Fall, 2013 International Bridal Market. This market showcased some of the most incredible trends and designs we have ever seen. The designs for next season are truly awe inspiring and we can’t wait to present our newest collections to our brides!

The sheer romance of the illusion neckline is still all the rave for this bridal season. The timeless look of the key hole back and delicate cap sleeves still rule the runway. We saw silhouettes from sleek and sculptural sheath gowns accentuated with crystal beaded tops and flouncy peplums, to ball gowns that are totally femme and tastefully frilly with the perfect touch of traditional accouterments.

With the upcoming release of The Great Gatsby movie also comes the incorporation of gowns and accessories that are reminiscent of this glamorous era. Art Deco motifs, gorgeous headpieces, and feathers were incorporated into elegant bead-work and swanky designs with a 1920’s twist!

What a sheer delight it was to peruse each designers collection, looking for the perfect gowns to bring home to our brides-to-be! Once you see our latest finds, we know you will agree that our store will be filled with dresses that are easy for any bride, with any budget, to live happily ever after!

Pure Perfection – From Head to Toe!

February 27th, 2013 | Category: Fashion, LWD | Comments (0)

This wedding season is proving to be an exciting year for bridal accessories. Long gone are the days when the bride accessorized with only a classic veil and a dainty piece of jewelry.  The aisle has become a runway where brides can express their personal style and taste. From trendy to traditional, the ladies of The Little White Dress have seen it all and are here to share with you the top accessory trends for 2013!

It’s all about vintage style! This has been a trend for two years running, and with a continued love for rustic and vintage wedding day soirees, vintage pieces are still all the rage. This year’s crop of brides-to-be is finding creative ways to incorporate heirloom broaches, bracelets, and necklaces. Intricate beading, chunky pearls, and breathtaking rhinestones make each one of the pieces unique and timeless in their own special way. We have seen brides wearing broaches as a wedding day hair accessory, featured on their gown for a signature piece of sparkle, and adorning their bridal belt. Speaking of belts, the one trend that has come a long way from the vintage days – the bridal sash! Once an anomaly in the bridal world, bridal belts are now a number one accessory request at The Little White Dress.  Brides have found they can create a look of their own by adding a rhinestone embellished sash, a delicate lace waistline, or a romantic cluster of soft, blush and ivory silk organza roses.  From eye-catching colors to unusual designs, a sash can change the entire look of a simple dress as a bride gracefully walks down the aisle. With all of these vintage ideas, how can one not be head-over-heels in love for vintage style?

For those brides who are looking for a style a bit more fashion-forward, you will be pleased to hear that it’s not all about classic vintage embellishments; brides-to-be nowadays wish to make a statement! From statement necklaces to chunky rings, brides can create a “one-of-a kind” look with bright, bold, and sassy statement accessories. A stand-out necklace gives a high-fashion look and shows off the bride’s fun style without saying a word! We just can’t get enough of the bold colors, different textures, long layered necklaces, & chunky cuff bracelets.

Last but certainly not least, a Little White Dress favorite –veils and headpieces! There may be nothing more traditional than the veil, but veils today are not cut from the same cloth as before.  Designers such as Sara Gabriel, customize veils to exactly what a bride’s heart desires. From veils covered in colored rhinestones of your choice, to different color ribbons and cording that line the delicate tulle, and offered in any length and color that tickles your fancy! Long, lacy veil styles are still a bridal day classic, but many brides are opting for birdcage veils that give an automatic vintage glam look. Not into the idea of a veil? Say goodbye to the traditional headpiece and tiara, and say hello to headbands! The new standard in playful and feminine, headbands are a hair accessory must, with or without a veil! Designer Erica Koesler offers ribbon headbands that are not only beautiful and interesting, but comfortable too. These gorgeous pieces feature chunky rhinestones, crystals and pearls, rhodium plating, and even feathers and flowers.

Accessories are now a huge part of a brides wedding day ‘look’, but it is important that the accessories chosen are in harmony with the bride’s dress, style, and personality. It’s not solely all about the dress, it’s about the total package, and getting all the ohh’s and ahh’s a bride deserves on her big day!  Stop in The Little White Dress and let one of our personal bridal consultants help complete the wedding day look of your dreams!

Our Favorite Season of All…

February 4th, 2013 | Category: LWD, Trunk Shows | Comments (0)

Trunk Show season is in full swing in bridal boutiques across the country, and we have to be honest, it’s our favorite season of all! If you are not exactly sure what a trunk show is, allow us to explain and give you a few tips and tricks every bride should know about these special events!

Twice a year our designers create new collections. A trunk show is the brides chance to see everything from the new collections, including styles just off the New York runways, not yet available in stores. Most bridal salons only carry a select number of dresses from a few different designers.  Trunk shows allow customers the opportunity to see and try on dresses that they wouldn’t ordinarily see at that store. Shows are exciting because you may fall in love with a gown no one has ever seen before–but come prepared. The gown you love may not be in store til next year, so the Trunk Show is your chance to take the plunge! Attending a favorite designer’s trunk show maximizes your chance of finding the dress of your dreams.

Trunk Show Tips:

  • Before attending a trunk show, begin the process by browsing designer websites to get a feel of which styles and looks most appeal to your taste as well as your event.
  • Set your budget first and stick with it. It’s tempting to try on gowns above your price range, but trust us, you’re better off not trying on gowns that stretch your budget. You’ll either end up falling in love and being disappointed by the following gowns (even if they’re just as beautiful), or you’ll blow your budget.
  • When you’re in the bridal salon, don’t eliminate anything at first glance. Even though certain styles work best on certain body types, don’t let these “regulations” narrow your search. It helps to first try on all different silhouettes’ of dresses and then decide which shape and style you look and feel best in.
  • Trunk shows are by appointment only and fill up quickly. Don’t wait to reserve your private appointment with your personal bridal consultant for these exclusive events.
  • Bring two or three people with you whom you trust and know you well. Resist the urge to have a large entourage accompany you—too many opinions can get confusing.
  • Bring a camera! Dresses may appear different in photographs then they do in person. This also gives you the opportunity to look at yourself in the dress at anything time, in case you do not purchase during the event and it was a dress that was not the salons but limited to the trunk show.
  • Dresses aren’t the only fashion element in a trunk show. Wedding veils, accessories, and wedding jewelry have trunk shows, too!
  • Be prepared to make a purchase in case you find “the dress” in order to take full advantage of the trunk show discount. But don’t feel pressured to make a decision if you aren’t 100% convinced she’s ‘the one’.

Join The Little White Dress on March 1st and 2nd as we host our first Sincerity by Justin Alexander trunk show. This designer creates beautiful gowns priced all under $1,000. May 3rd and 4th we welcome the Justin Alexander Bridal. This collection offers exquisite vintage gowns with modern twists. Bling, sparkle, and intricate lace will line our racks for this event, all the while boasting extremely attractive price points. The ladies of The Little White Dress will celebrate South Carolina tax free weekend on August 2nd and 3rd with the Wtoo and Encore trunk shows. This event will offer fresh designs that are sure to take your breath away and perfect party dresses for all the soirees leading up to your big day! Call to schedule a private consultation with your personal bridal consultant and let us help you find the dress of your dreams.

Aisle Style: 2013 NYC Bridal Market

January 15th, 2013 | Category: Bridal Market, Fashion, LWD | Comments (0)

Each October the ladies of The Little White Dress have the pleasure of traveling to Bridal Market in New York City. This bi-annual event gives valuable insight to boutique owners and bridal consultants as we immerse ourselves in a whirlwind of bridal fashion and style. All the top bridal designers bring their A-game as they gather at Pier 94 in New York, New York to launch their freshest fabrics and top trends for the upcoming year.

As a new bride you may have found yourself endlessly flipping through magazines and picking apart gowns in search of the dress of your dreams, but if you’re getting married next fall, breathe easy gorgeous! The Little White Dress scoured Bridal Market to find the inside scoop on all the latest trends for 2013, hand-picked just for you! Straight from our front row seats to you, allow us to introduce insider info every bride needs to know for 2013.

First and foremost, the trend that’s here to stay… Lace! Always a L.W.D favorite, we went to market on the hunt to make an old favorite new again and we found just that! This season it was all about going back even further in time to Victorian style lace patterns. Designer Justin Alexander unveiled delicate vintage floral Chantilly and Alençon laces in a number of his breathtaking designs. Making these gowns not only gorgeous but lightweight and easy to boogey in! Taking a step in a different direction, many designers utilized bold and dramatic laces. We couldn’t get enough of the elegant Venice and cotton-crochet laces that featured embellished waist lines and perfect pop of drama for any bride. Bold lace gives a bride the romantic look she loves with just the hint of contemporary style.

Straps! This is the number one request we have been getting at our boutique lately. Sleeves and straps ruled the runway and put a new twist on necklines. You asked for it and we got it! We love that designers like Paloma Blanca and Mikaella found a way to offer straps without taking away the flattering neckline a strapless dress provides. From keyhole backs and cap-sleeves to illusion necklines to full length sleeves, this trend was a designer favorite and a L.W.D must have!

Finally, to die for details! The bridal industry’s first priority is always the bride’s desire for detail on her big day. Designers have caught on to the fact that brides want to look just as good from the back as they do from the front. Get ready to sparkle from head to toe as you come and go. Gowns encrusted with beads, crystals, and pearls made our jaws drop! Even classic laces got a unique twist of soft bling embellishment throughout. Even more than last season, stunning textured organza and mixtures of lace, tulle, and grosgrain blew us away.

Whether you are the bride searching for the top trends of 2013 or a dress that will stand the test of time, The Little White Dress couldn’t be more excited to offer you exactly what you need.
